Cuckoo Pint, also known as Lords and Ladies, is typically found in undergrowth of gardens, forests and hedgerows, its alien-like spear of berries shooting up through the leaves. The bright red berries of this plant contain oxalates of saponins, which irritate the throat, resulting in burning pain and breathing difficulties. If consumed, the effects include nausea, cramps, dilation of the pupils, dizziness and drowsiness.
